How to prevent Game-Crashes while load/playing big custom maps?

Since RO1 is a quite old game, the file architecture is also a bit "old-fashioned.
Possibly you face the issue, that the game crashes while/after download/playing a bigger map - especially these one which contains a Mod.
The reason for that annoying behavior of RO1 is simple: the x86-file-architecture of RO1 limits the usable memory to max. 2GB. In consequence, as soon you'll load/play a big map with lot of custom Textures/Animations/Sounds.. etc.. the needed memory runs out of range, in result the game crashes - mostly with a (useless & wrong) message: "run out of virtual memory blablabla.. ".

How can this be prevented? The solution is logical: You must have made a change that allows the game to address more than the 2 GB of memory allocated to the game. The best way to do this is to use the "RedOrchestraLargeAddressAware.exe" file, which is adapted for the DH mod, instead of the older, original "redorchestra.exe" file. As the file name suggests, this newer version allows extended addressing for game memory up to 4 GB.

Step by step:
  1. go to => https://github.com/DarklightGames/DarkestHour/tree/master/System
  2. download the "RedOrchestraLargeAddressAware.exe"
  3. make sure, that RO1 isn't running anymore
  4. open the Windows Explorer & go to your RO1 System-Folder (normally you' find 'em here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra\System )
  5. look for the "RedOrchestra.exe" file. RENAME IT - DO NOT DELETE THE FILE (only for the case something runs wrong..  rename it p.e. to "RedOrchestra.exe.OLD" .. whatever..)
  6. place the downloaded "RedOrchestraLargeAddressAware.exe" in the System-Folder & rename it to "RedOrchestra.exe"
  7. all is done..
Your game should start correctly when using the current RO-Icon, maybe you have to adjust some settings.. and, don't wonder, you have to download all Cache files again.. that's an normal effect of this change..
Hope you will realize, that the Game-Crashes reduces significantly. If this is not the case, or smth. runs wrong during the change, or you may have other instabilities, you can go back to the original file simply: just delete the NEW "RedOrchestra.exe" file (what was the "RedOrchestraLargeAddressAware.exe" before renaming..) and rename the original RedOrchestra.exe file you should still have in your System-Folder..

Any feedback is welcome..
